French Country Cake!
My brother has been going through a phase where he's really into lemon-flavored stuff, so I decided to make a lemon cake when he was coming over for dinner a couple weeks ago.
Though I normally have a ton of cake decor ideas, I was kind of drawing a blank on how I wanted this lemon cake to look, because I felt like I had to make it yellow, and for some reason yellow is one of my least favorite colors to decorate cakes with (as I basically want to make every cake pink).
I ultimately found inspiration in those yellow and blue french countryside patterns (do you know what I'm talking about? something like this?). Once I decided on a theme/color scheme, decorating the cake came super naturally. I used Russian piping tips for the flowers (if you haven't checked them out before, please do so now!!) and blackberries and blueberries that were already in my fridge for added flavor and an extra "countryside touch."
All in all, I'm really happy with how this cake came out visually, and it tasted great too!
